Summary of Duties:  

The Kinesiology Program (located within the College of Education on the Pullman, WA campus) is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor (career track/non-tenure track) position, with a 9-month continuous appointment and possibility of summer employment. Applicants will be expected to teach approximately four courses each semester in two or more of the following content areas: motor learning, motor control, motor development, strength and conditioning, fitness, foundations of physics for sport and exercise, exercise physiology, or exercise prescription. In addition, they will be expected to provide service to the undergraduate program in kinesiology, college and university as appropriate. Additional opportunities, commensurate with experience, training, and interest include: coordinating the clinical experiences for the strength and conditioning minor, conducting research, and contributing to the graduate program in kinesiology. Finally, the Kinesiology program seeks candidates who can contribute to innovative teaching, and service activities integrating kinesiology into campus and community entities as appropriate. These may include athletics, recreation, fitness facilities, physical therapy or other health care clinics. The College of Education seeks applicants with a demonstrated knowledge and ability to work effectively with individuals and groups with a variety of identities, cultures, backgrounds and ideologies in a global environment. This position is expected to start on August 16, 2022.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in kinesiology or related field by the date of hire, or possess a master’s degree or equivalent degree in kinesiology or related field with 3+ years of relevant work experience. ABDs may apply but must earn the qualifying degree by the hire date. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to effectively teach undergraduate students and work collaboratively with other entities and individuals on and off campus.

Preferred Qualifications:

Competitive candidates will have a strong record of teaching effectiveness and be able to teach a broad range of courses within kinesiology. In addition, practical experiences that illustrate the integration of content expertise and application either within or outside of the education context are desirable.
