Job Description: The School of Kinesiology announces the availability of a full-time Open-rank tenure-track position in Motor Behavior (biomechanics, motor control, motor development, and motor learning). The candidate will have a commitment to scholarly productivity, grant writing, teaching excellence, service, and diversity support. The appointment will be effective August 12, 2024.

Qualifications:

All Ranks: Earned doctorate in Kinesiology or a related field prior to start date with a research focus in one or more of the motor behavior subdisciplines that is both unique and augments current faculty research.

Assistant Professor Rank: Candidates must provide evidence of scholarly activity that demonstrates a strong potential for publications in top-tier peer-reviewed journals and external funding for scholarly activities, competence in teaching undergraduate courses in motor learning and/or motor development, and graduate courses related to their expertise, as well as involvement in service to the University and profession. Preference will be given to candidates with post-doctoral experience.

Associate Professor Rank: Candidates applying for the Associate Professor rank must meet the requirements for Assistant Professor and have a minimum Assistant Professor rank and qualifications for promotion to Associate Professor. Candidates must provide evidence of a productive scholarly record including an externally funded research program that will complement the current faculty members in motor behavior and broader School of Kinesiology, a publication record showing sustained excellence in nationally recognized top-tier peer-reviewed journals, experience teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses effectively, experience mentoring graduate students, history of working with diverse student populations, and previous involvement in varied service activities.

Professor Rank: Candidates applying for the Professor rank must have a minimum Associate Professor rank and qualifications for promotion to Professor rank. Candidates must provide evidence of sustained excellence in scholarly activity in nationally and internationally recognized top-tier peer-reviewed journals, extensive teaching experience in higher education, including undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise, excellent track record of external funding for scholarly activities, as well as successful mentoring of graduate students as the primary mentor. Preferred candidates will have prior experience in leadership roles, experience working with diverse student populations, and involvement in University service.

Preferred qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with current external funding with research interests in motor learning or development across the lifespan.

Responsibilities: (1) Develop or continue a fundable research program; (2) teach undergraduate courses and/or graduate courses in Motor Behavior areas; (3) provide advisement to graduate students, and direct dissertations; (4) seek or sustain external funding support for scholarly activities; (5) serve on School, College, University, and Profession-based committees as appropriate.

Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
