Graduate Student (PhD and/or MSc) Positions in Neural Control of Movement – Dr. Marigold’s Lab at Simon Fraser University, Metro Vancouver, Canada
Dr. Marigold’s Sensorimotor Neuroscience Lab is seeking applications for an available graduate student position (PhD or Master’s) related to the neural control of movement.
About the Lab:
The Sensorimotor Neuroscience Lab (www.sfu.ca/smnl) focuses on how sensory information (visual, vestibular and somatosensory) is used to control movement. This includes how the brain adapts and learns, how the nervous system integrates different sources of sensory input under a variety of contexts, and the spatial-temporal coupling of gaze and limb movements. The lab studies healthy adults as well as individuals with neurological disorders or eye diseases.
Simon Fraser University is consistently ranked as one of the top comprehensive universities in Canada. The campus is located at the top of Burnaby Mountain in beautiful Metro Vancouver, and is in close proximity to numerous outdoor recreational opportunities. The lab is part of the Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology.
We are looking to recruit and educate motivated and self-driven young scientists with an interest in the study of sensorimotor control and learning. Applicants should have proficient oral and written skills in English. Those with experience in programming (e.g., MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW) are preferred. Furthermore, prospective students should have a background in neuroscience, kinesiology, physiology, and/or a closely related area. Those with a background in computational neuroscience are also encouraged to apply.
Funding is guaranteed for either 2 years (MSc level) or 4 years (PhD level) in agreement with current Departmental policies. The successful applicant will also be encouraged to apply for both internal and external scholarships where eligible.
If you are interested and qualified, please send (1) a brief statement of research interests and career goals, (2) a current CV, and (3) transcripts (unofficial versions are acceptable) to Dr. Marigold at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please send the statement in the body of the email and the CV and transcript documents in PDF format. Positions are subject to acceptance into the graduate program in the Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology at SFU. Please visit the following site for more
