IWiN is a project of the Society for Neuroscience (SfN), funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) under the ADVANCE/PAID program on "Increasing the Participation and Advancement of Women in Academic Science and Engineering Careers." The three-year project, "Department Chair Training to Increase Women in Neuroscience (IWiN)," will include five regional workshops targeted to benefit more than 30 institutions across the United States.
The IWiN workshops provide concrete strategies focusing on recruitment, advancement, and creating a favorable work climate for female faculty and faculty from diverse backgrounds in neuroscience and neuroscience-related departments and programs. The workshops will draw upon proven strategies from ADVANCE program institutions.
Under a grant from the NSF’s ADVANCE/PAID program for “Increasing the Participation and Advancement of Women in Academic Science and Engineering Careers,” SfN will hold five regional workshops over the next three years for academic institutions across the United States. The first IWiN workshop will be held in Washington, DC, in April 2010. Visit www.sfn.org/iwin to learn more about the project and to apply to participate in one of the upcoming IWiN workshops.
